There are a few differences between writing a timed in class essay and writing a more long term essay at home, one difference is that on the in class essay there will be more careless mistakes and less precision of language, whereas in an at home essay you have more time and can check your work. The other difference between an in class essay and an at home essay is that, you will be more stressed while taking the in class essay as you have to stop at a certain time, but the expectations for that essay are probably not as high as the expectations of the at home essay.
