It is very challenging for a person to write a well thought out paper, without being able to prepare for it. An in class essay can be challenging to prepare for, because one does not fully know the question that must be answered. The only way to prepare for an in class essay is not to guess the question, but to review notes and past papers. Although it will be hard to complete an essay in the time constraint at hand, it is possible to write a well thought out paper. Also, in order to write a good analysis, one must remember to paraphrase and look at the literal and symbolic meaning of the question. In a long term assignment, it is a lot easier to do well because there is a lot of time at hand, in a constrained time, it is easier to make mistakes that can severly lower ones grade.
